All new users must be trained and certified by Dr. Thomas Stroh or Dr. Liliana Pedraza before gaining access to the microscope facility. Users are not permitted to train new users. The training cost for laboratory personnel from outside of the MNI is 30 $/hr.

During office hours, Mon.-Fri., 9 am to 6 pm, reservation is limited to a maximum of three hours. You can sign up for one, two or three hour blocks at a time.

Before 9 am, after 6 pm, and on weekends, holidays, etc. users are free to sign up for longer periods than 3 hours.

During office hours, each user is limited to one time slot a day. Further, each user is limited to a maximum of three time slots per week (off hours and weekends/holidays included).

Each laboratory is limited to 2 time slots a day.

If your experiment requires uninterrupted imaging exceeding the time limits above, please contact Dr. Thomas Stroh or Dr. Liliana Pedraza for approval of reservations. Any unapproved reservations in disagreement with the rules will be deleted without notice.

Reservations made more than 2 weeks in advance of the current day will not be accepted and deleted without notice.
User fees
Billing is done on a quarterly basis.
Confocal and TIRF mircroscopes:
MNI laboratories: 30$/hour for the first 30 hours of use, as of the 31st hour 10$/hour
Out-of-house users: 30$/hour
Other microscopes (not using a laser light source)
15$/hour
Cancellation policy |
If you need to cancel your reservation, please do so by 6 pm on the evening preceding the reservation. In case of late cancellation your laboratory will be charged the applicable user fees.
